This is a basic cottage pie recipe, some people add peas or mixed garden vegetables when cooking the mince, but this cottage pie recipe makes no mention of vegetables.   1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°C)
  2. In a large frying pan, heat the fat and sauté the onion until lightly browned
  3. Add the tomatoes and mince and heat through, about five minutes
  4. Add the salt, pepper, and herbs, stirring well
  5. Place the meat mixture into a deep ovenproof baking dish and cover with the mashed potato. Dot the top of the mixture with small pieces of the butter
  6. Place in the oven and bake until the top is brown and crisp, about 30 to 35 minutes
  7. Serve hot with a healthy side salad serving. Enjoy!

Tasty cottage pie recipe. If I can make one suggestion, please. When you add the mashed potato to the top of the mince pie mixture. punch a few holes with a skewer into the top of the cottage pie. It allows the overflow mixture to evaporate. Otherwise, perfect mince pie 🥧 recipe. 5.00
