Prime Rib Recipe

Our Juicy, tender, off the bone prime rib recipe, was developed by a chef to make it easy for home cooks to try this recipe in their own kitchens. Prime rib is one of the best beef cuts. There are two versions of prime rib you can try at home. The bone-in prime rib roast is also called the standing rib roast. The boneless rib roast is simply called a prime rib roast.

Whichever cut you choose is up to you. Both versions taste delicious, but we lean slightly towards the bone-in prime rib coast for our personal preferences. Simply because of how easy it is to position the rib roast on its rib bones in the roasting pan.

We also use very basic ingredients in our prime-rib roast recipe. The secret to the great taste in our recipe lies in the gravy. Something a little extra we added to enhance the taste of the already delicious prime rib.

We wish you a happy holiday season and we know you will enjoy our prime rib roast recipe. Please let us know what you think of this recipe.

Thank you and happy prime rib roasting. Enjoy!

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 500°F (250°C)
  2. Rub a little olive oil all over the prime rib
  3. Rub generously all over with salt and freshly ground black pepper
  4. Place the prime rib fat side up on a roasting pan
  5. Transfer to the oven and brown for 15 minutes
  6. Reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (160°C)
  7. Cook the prime rib roast for a further 1½ hours (rare), 2 hours (medium), or 2½ hours (medium well)
  8. If you are using a meat thermometer, follow these guidelines, 115°F (45°C) for rare or 120°(50°C) (medium rare), and 130°F(55°C) (medium)
  9. Remove the prime rib from the roasting pan, leaving the fat and drippings behind
  10. Prepare the Gravy Remove excess fat from the pan, reserving ½ cup of fat and drippings for the gravy
  11. Place the roasting pan on the stove top over medium heat. Scrape up the bits, fond, sticking to the bottom of the pan
  12. Sprinkle the flour over the top of the drippings and stir well to incorporate
  13. Slowly add the three cups of beef stock and stir well to break up any flour lumps
  14. Simmer until the gravy has reduced and turned into an evenly brown color
  15. Season with salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
  16. Serve with the standing prime-rib roast
  17. Enjoy!
