This easy steak in red wine sauce recipe came as a surprise. As the saying goes, the best things happened unexpectedly. The same thing can be said for this steak in red wine sauce recipe.

We were faced with a small dilemma while attending our annual year-end celebrations for the company I work for. The catering company did not show up. Luckily, due to restrictions, we were not that many people who attended the celebrations.

Seeing that I was the go-to person when it came to cooking and preparing food, I had to think out of the box. There was as supermarket around the corner and we quickly ran downstairs to see what they had available. I quickly spotted a few good-looking rump steaks. I have the meat, I thought to myself and started formulating a recipe in my head.

Naturally, there was good wine present at our celebration event, and I chose the red wine as the marinade for the steaks. A red wine sauce for steak, as it is. The rest, as they say, was history, and so this steak in red wine sauce recipe was born.

Directions

  1. In a mixing bowl, mix the red wine, garlic, and chili. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper
  2. In a large frying pan, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil over medium to high heat. Sear the rump steaks on both sides for three minutes per side. Remove from the pan and set aside. Our the leftover pan juices into the red wine mixture in the mixing bowl
  3. Reduce the heat to medium, and add 1 tablespoon olive oil to the pan. Fry the steaks again for one minute per side. Pour the red wine sauce into the pan and simmer for five minutes. Serve with soft polenta and garnish the steaks in red wine sauce with parsley. Enjoy!
