This curried green bean salad recipe has been in our family for many decades. I can easily remember my grandmom and my mother making this green bean salad. It is a trendy dish many South African children grow up knowing. Curried green bean salad is the perfect braai side dish companion, and also great for any other occasion.

This recipe came up as a surprise. Like all good things, it happened by accident. After we launched our very popular share a recipe section, we actually ran out of ideas for a new recipe. Directions

  1. In a large saucepan, boil the beans and onions until just tender. Drain well.
  2. Meanwhile, in a separate saucepan, boil the vinegar and sugar until the sugar is combined.
  3. Add the salt, curry powder, and corn flour to the sugar and vinegar mixture and stir well to combine.
  4. Add sauce to the beans and onions and mix well. Transfer to the refrigerator and leave overnight. Enjoy!
