Wiener Schnitzel Recipe

This quick and easy wiener schnitzel recipe is one of my favourite recipes to prepare. The name itself makes my mouth water and the finished golden brown schnitzels look amazing when served with side dishes and garnished with lemons.

Wiener schnitzel, or Wienerschnitzel, as referred to in Switzerland, is a famous and popular Viennese dish. Veal cutlets, prepared in breadcrumbs and fried to golden brown deliciousness in a pan. Do not be put off by the name, the dish is surprisingly easy to prepare and only takes a few minutes.

Directions

  1. Beat the veal fillets slightly with the spiky side of a meat tenderizer. Season the flour with the salt and pepper and mix well
  2. Dredge the veal fillets in the seasoned flour, dip them in the egg wash and then the breadcrumbs, covering completely
  3. Melt the butter in a large frying pan over medium heat and fry the veal fillets on both sides until golden brown and crispy
  4. Lower the heat and fry for a minute more, to ensure the veal is tender
  5. Remove from the frying pan and garnish each Wiener schnitzel with a slice of hard-boiled egg, and serve with a slice of lemon and mashed potatoes. Enjoy!
